Working on spreading the word for my new book. Really enjoying the positive responses and catching up with old comrades. This comment meant a lot, from a fisherman I do not know.

I'm working on press for my just released novel. As I am not really into self-promotion and self-marketing this has been quite an experience. I will be writing an article on What to expect when you get published by a small publishing house. I have learned more than I ever thought I would need to know about analytics and metadata and marketing to booksellers.
You can find the book WHAT HIDES BENEATH on Amazon of course, but also on Books a Million, Black Rose Writing(the publishing house) and B& One indie store in NC picked it up today and I will be having a book signing there on 9/30. I guess I have to start promoting that event too! UGH! I just want to write!

Everyone's projects look so exciting. Congratulations!

Wendy, your RVHappy line is showing the mugs under the Beanies link.

Also, if you ever have the time, could you share some details about the process of setting up your online storefront? My daughter is an artist and we are trying to learn all we can so that she can launch in a year or so.

I'm currently editing and revising one novel manuscript while giving myself a two-week break from doing the same for another one.

@TParker Thanks for the heads up. I'm still figuring this site out between multiple other jobs and projects.

What kind of art does your daughter do? That makes a lot of difference in how you go about it all.

I'm looking at some possible solutions for the older entrepreneurs in Canada to get suitable opportunities to collaborate with the younger under 40 entrepreneurs. I strongly believe that 'wisdom and experience' can match up logically with youth and their high tech knowledge. In fact this is my own experience where I wrote the manuscript for the non-fiction book 'Encore! Encore! Seniors (50 Plus) As Entrepreneurs: Their Time Has Come pen on paper, while my younger computer services partner handled all the book self-publishing activities & the website construction. Website:

I'm also planning to switch from full blogs to mini or even micro mini blogs. I'm moving from Wordpress to Social Media sites i.e. Facebook, Twitter & LinkedIn.

Can you share a little about the nature of products your daughter will produce? Digital images or physical? Paintings or work transferred to other media, such as @Summerbay's mugs? The media will matter in what functionality you will need on your site and throughout the sales process.

After website choice and presentation you will want to consider payment processor(s) and delivery options. And, of course, marketing and SEO. The right choices from the beginning can save you a bunch.

Why are you waiting a year? Do you expect it will take that long to get it done? It shouldn't. 90 days max for a single site. More if you want to spread the cost out. The key, for me anyway, would be to get the site up now even if you won't have enough product for 12 months. Find someone who will break the cost out over those months with an all-inclusive total about the same as you would pay up front for a typical ecommerce site. Get the site working for you on pre-sales, advance promotions, organic traffic, and SEO. By the time you are ready to open your virtual doors you will have a ready audience for your actual launch.

For me, that's the kind of project that's great to work on.

@Rev we are in epic transition phase. My husband is retiring in less than two weeks. Then, it will be his new "job" to launch the kids while I keep writing. Once he gets his feet under him and takes care of some household stuff that has been on hold, we'll be managing our daughter's art and our son's coding efforts. I'm not sure we'll be able to hit the holiday market with our daughter's art this year but that would be next year's goals. Domains are purchased, so now it is just finding the time to learn what we need to know.

Mom brag: My avatar is my daughter's work. I gave her a pencil sketch of the idea and she did the rest. She also paints, sculpts, etc. She is one of those people who values creating over breathing. A line drawing of the same rabbit pictured in my avatar.

Hee hee, never ask a mom about her kids unless you have a lot of time on your hands.
